2 miles outside in 32 minutes

Pretty damn slow.

But I’m starting somewhere. It’s the longest I’ve gone outside in a while.  It was chilly.  But I went. I actually took the dog with me.  The 11 year old dog. He peed on anything vertical and pooped about 4 times.  So, I dropped him back at the house after about a mile.  I could have stopped then.  But I didn’t.

I continued on for another mile. I obviously didn’t run all of it, but I did seem to push myself.  I told myself to keep going just a little bit longer and taking shorter walking breaks.

About 3/4 of the way done, I saw another runner, and we waved.  That hasn’t happened to me before.  But it felt… kinda… awesome.  Like I was apart of a special club or something.  Very cool.

After about being back home for about 30 minutes, I feel like I could do it again.

Took these new puppies for their first run last night. The muscles on the bottom of my right foot hurt a bit after a little while. Not sure if that’s normal for outdoor running or maybe a muscle strain ?

New Balance Sneakers- Has anyone gotten fitted here before … or own a pair? There are a few stores in the area.  They are supposed to have this machine that tells you what shoe is best and they have FIT experts on site to help you choose which sneaker is best. I am in DESPERATE need of new sneakers - mine are over 2.5 years old. Not to mention the dance marathon I completed in them.

Thoughts?

last night, i felt like a runner.

i made my way to the gym & onto the treadmill with my normal intentions: walk for 5 mins warmup, run 1:30 intervals, walk for a minute, repeat for 20 minutes.

But after the first 1:30 of running, i felt like i could keep going.  so i did. for another 4:30. i ran for 6 minutes straight, walked for 2, ran for 4, walked for 2, then ran for another 6.

I ran for a total for 16 minutes!

this may seem like a small accomplishment, if one at all. but for a few minutes, i was IN THE ZONE. The ZONE you all talk about, the one where you listen to your feet, think about your breathing and just go.  I looked past the wall of the gym and zoned out.

Focus strongly on getting through the first three weeks. It takes roughly three weeks to establish a habit. If you can get past the first three weeks, your mind and body will find it much easier after that.

_________
I am incredibly impatient so these three weeks are going to be extremely crucial.

I hope I can be consistent in 3 weeks.  I find it hard already & its only been about 1 week.  YIKES!

I think I might give couch to 5k a try. I already go for walks 5-6 days a week and this starts off as a 3 day program. We’ll see….the last time I wanted to become a runner it lasted….hmmm…ONE DAY! Embarrassing.

no i feel ya!!! I attempted it too in the beginning of November- and i think i lasted 2 days.  I just need write it down in my planner and stick to it.  I know I will get frustrated because it will probably take me longer than 9 weeks.
